Abstract
This article aims to explore the potential and challenges of using Chat GPT, a natural language processing-based intelligent interactive tool that employs big data analysis and metacognitive strategies, in English reading comprehension teaching. With the continuous development of artificial intelligence technology, the application of Chat GPT in English teaching is gradually gaining attention. This article first explains the relevant concepts of metacognitive strategies and Chat GPT, and then focuses on the potential of using Chat GPT in English reading comprehension teaching and the challenges it faces, including context understanding, language generation, and user experience. Finally, this article proposes some suggestions to address the challenges, aiming to provide reference and inspiration for the application of Chat GPT in English reading comprehension teaching.
