Abstract

As polymer-based materials continue to dominate industrial applications, the role of additives in enhancing their functionality and sustainability has become increasingly critical. This paper provides an in-depth review of next-generation polymer additives, including bio-based plasticizers, nanocomposite stabilizers, and environmentally friendly flame retardants. Recent research has focused on designing additives that not only improve polymer performance but also minimize their ecological footprint. The study explores the challenges of traditional additives, regulatory considerations, and the shift towards greener solutions in the polymer industry. The findings highlight how smart additives with adaptive and self-healing properties can revolutionize material science.
