Abstract

The rising environmental concerns surrounding conventional polymer additives have fueled the search for sustainable, bio-based alternatives. Bio-derived plasticizers, stabilizers, and fillers provide an eco-friendly solution by improving polymer flexibility, stability, and durability while maintaining biodegradability. This paper explores the development, application, and environmental impact of bio-based and biodegradable polymer additives, highlighting innovations such as lignin-based stabilizers, starch-based plasticizers, and cellulose-derived fillers. Furthermore, the challenges of cost, scalability, and compatibility with existing processing technologies are analyzed. The study provides insight into the industrial feasibility of transitioning towards bio-based polymer additives and their role in reducing plastic waste and carbon emissions.
