Flame Retardant Polymer Additives: Innovations in Fire-Resistant Materials for Safer Industrial Applications
Main Article Content
Abstract
Flame retardant additives are essential for enhancing the fire resistance of polymers used in construction, electronics, and automotive industries. This paper examines the latest developments in flame-retardant polymer additives, including halogen-free formulations, phosphorus-based retardants, and intumescent coatings. The effectiveness of different flame retardants in reducing ignition susceptibility, smoke generation, and toxic gas emissions is analyzed. Additionally, the paper explores the regulatory challenges and environmental concerns associated with conventional flame retardants, emphasizing the need for greener alternatives. Emerging trends in bio-based flame retardants and nanocomposite flame-retardant systems are also highlighted.
